On June 19, 2025, the Metabolic Engineering 16 (ME16) successfully concluded at the Tivoli Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark.
As a platinum-level sponsor—the highest sponsorship tier—Wuhan Hesheng Technology Co., Ltd. attended the conference together with a research team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Dr. Yao Zhi, Head of New Product Development at Hesheng Technology, delivered a keynote speech on behalf of the company, highlighting the flagship products Lycopene and Mugwortol™. Her presentation provided an in-depth analysis of major breakthroughs from product discovery to commercialization.

In addition, at the exhibition, Hesheng Technology showcased its natural pigment Lycopene, the novel mosquito-repelling ingredient Mugwortol™, and a wide range of samples and derivative products—including candies, perfumes, car aromatherapy diffusers, and anti-itch essential oils—which attracted strong attention from academic participants.
Lycopene, a natural pigment and antioxidant, demonstrates remarkable benefits in men's health, cardiovascular disease prevention, and cancer prevention. Mugwortol™, as a new mosquito-repelling ingredient, also has tick-repelling properties, making it suitable for summer protection, pet care, and seasonal aromatherapy. Leveraging cutting-edge synthetic biology, Hesheng Technology utilizes a "Intelligent Manufacturing" approach through microorganisms, supported by its high-throughput automated natural product discovery platform and an efficient biosynthesis platform based on industrial chassis cells. To date, the company has filed 66 invention patents and obtained authorization for 31 of them.

Hesheng Technology's impressive presence not only drew widespread attention from researchers but also sparked strong interest among international peers, leaving a lasting impression on many global industry leaders. R&D teams from internationally renowned companies such as Givaudan, Firmenich, and BASF expressed keen interest in Hesheng Technology's fragrance and natural pigment products, engaging in in-depth discussions with the team. They paid particular attention to the commercialization progress of Lycopene formulations and gave high recognition to the company's product development achievements.
As the only Chinese company to attend ME16 as a sponsor, Hesheng Technology stood out by attracting inquiries from experts and scholars worldwide, receiving extensive praise. Conference Chair Professor Irina Borodina showed great interest in the different formulations and applications of Lycopene, while also expressing strong curiosity about mosquito- and insect-repelling ingredients.
